Uruguay on 12m: CX2DK
I haven't checked my eQSL account for a long time and when I opened my inbox today I found I had a number of very nice eQSLs waiting, like the one on the picture from Marcelo (CX2DK) in Uruguay, for a QSO on 12m SSB.I also found out that I already have 78 DXCC entities confirmed, so now I have to go for the 100...

Canary Islands on 12m (EA8CQW)
This is a video of a QSO with EA8CQW (Oscar) from the Canary Islands on the 12m band. It was raining in Tenerife.
Tenerife is known internationally as the "Island of Eternal Spring" (Isla de la Eterna Primavera).[37] The island, being on a latitude of the Sahara Desert, enjoys a warm climate year-round with an average of 20° - 22°C in the winter and 26° - 28°C in the summer and high sunshine totals. The moderate climate of Tenerife is controlled to a great extent by the tradewinds, whose humidity, principally, is condensed over the north and northeast of the island, creating cloud banks that range between 600 and 1,800 meters in height. The cold sea currents of the Canary Islands, also have a cooling effect on the coasts and its beaches and the topography of the landscape plays a role in climatic differences on the island with its many valleys.

Crete on 12m (SV9GPV)
Today the propagation was very good on the higher bands. This is a video of a QSO on the 12m band with SV9GPV from Crete.
Crete was the center of the Minoan civilization (circa 2700–1420 BCE), the first advanced civilization in Europe. The Minoan civilization was a Bronze Age civilization that arose on the island of Crete and flourished from approximately the 27th century BC to the 15th century BC. It was rediscovered at the beginning of the 20th century through the work of the British archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans. Will Durant referred to it as "the first link in the European chain." The early inhabitants of Crete settled as early as 128,000 BC, during the Middle Paleolithic age. However it was not until 5000 BC that the first signs of advanced agriculture appeared, marking the beginning of the civilization.

Switzerland on 12m with the FT-897 manpack
This is a video of a QSO with Swiss station HB9BTI (Peter) on the 12m band, using the same 2.4m whip of British origin.
On this video the ATU box is painted all black because I was not convinced by the finish of the paint I used for the camo version.

Testing the portable FT-897D
I have attached the third handle to the FT-897D and installed a 3/8-24 antenna mount. These are the results of the first test, on the 12m band.
The radio is ugly but as my friend Alex says, it's nothing that a bit of paint cannot solve. Knowing his tastes, I think I know what colour he was thinking of...

Ameland Island on 12m
Today I made a QSO with Dutch station PE2MC/P from Ameland Island (EU-038) on the 12m band, and I got this nice eQSL.
Ameland is a municipality and one of the West Frisian Islands off the north coast of the Netherlands. It consists mostly of sand dunes. It is the third major island of the West Frisians. It neighbours islands Terschelling to the West and Schiermonnikoog to the East. This includes the small Engelsmanplaat and Rif islands to the East.
Ameland is, counted from the west, the fourth inhabited Dutch Wadden island and belongs to the Friesland/Fryslan province. The whole island falls under one municipality, which carries the same name. The Wadden islands form the border between the North sea and the Wadden sea which lies on the south side of the island file. As of 31 December 2008, the municipality of Ameland had 3,466 inhabitants (source: CBS). The inhabitants are called Amelanders.

Saint Helena on 12m (ZD7FT)
Yesterday I made a QSO with Saint Helena Island (ZD7FT) on the 12m band. Peter gave me a signal report of 52.
Saint Helena (pronounced saint hə-lee-nə), named after St Helena of Constantinople, is an island of volcanic origin in the South Atlantic Ocean. It is part of a British overseas territory that also includes Ascension Island and the islands of Tristan da Cunha. Saint Helena measures about 16 by 8 kilometres (10 by 5 mi) and has a population of 4,255 (2008 census).
Britain's second oldest remaining colony (after Bermuda), Saint Helena is one of the most isolated islands in the world and was for several centuries of vital strategic importance to ships sailing to Europe from Asia and South Africa. For several centuries, the British used the island as a place of exile, most notably for Napoleon Bonaparte.
Most historical accounts state that the island was discovered on 21 May 1502 by the Galician navigator João da Nova sailing at the service of the Portuguese Crown, and that he named it "Santa Helena" after Helena of Constantinople.

Crete: No. 16 with the PRC320 (SV9CVY)
I have just received an eQSL for a QSO with SV9CVY (Operator Michael) from Crete Island.
This makes the 16th DXCC entity validly confirmed for my eDX award, for which I need 25 countries. This is also one of my first QSOs on the 12m band and shows the versatility of the PRC320.
Since yesterday I am also in a competition with a colleage (EA1HNP) who is using the latest technology, including an Icom IC-7000 and digital modes and has 27 countries confirmed. I hope to have overcome him by the first of June with my PRC320 and thus win a free dinner.

One morning, three bands, seven countries
Sunday morning was very productive with the PRC-320. I made ten QSOs with seven countries in three different bands. I started on my newly discovered 12m band with a couple of QSOs with Lithuania (LY1CX, Auris) and Crete (SV9CVY, Mike).
Then I moved to the 15m band and made contacts with Poland (SP6VWX- Robert and SP7IDX - Waldi), Antigua and Barbuda (V21DB, Derrick), Kazahstan (UN0LE, Serge from Kustanai) and the Czech Republic (OK2WED, Petr). Here you can see a video of the QSO recorded by José Luis (EA1HNP), who popped by to see how the Clansman worked:
Finally, I tried the 20m band, where I checked into what I believe was the Southern Cross DX Net coordinated by Jack (W1FDY), in which I have already participated in the past. I made QSOs with him and two other American stations: KB3NXT (Joe, from PA) and KC8OFH.

I was using my FT857 with the FC40 auto tuner and the 4m whip.Rechytsa is a town in the Homiel Province of Belarus. It is center of Rechitsa district. The city is situated at the mouth of Rechitsa river, flowing into Dnieper. The population is 65,532 as of 2005.
